LA Lakers star tops list of most popular NBA jerseys for 2024/25 regular season, followed by Golden State Warriors great Steph Curry and Dončić’s teammate LeBron James
Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum and New York Knicks’ Jalen Brunson complete the top five
The Lakers also lead the NBA in merchandise sales this season, followed by the Celtics, Warriors, Knicks and Chicago Bulls
James was the most-viewed player across the NBA’s social and digital platforms during the regular season, with content featuring the four-time NBA champion generating 3.23 billion views
Other most-viewed players were Curry (2.56bn views), Doncic (1.82bn views), Victor Wembanyama (1.47bn views) and Nikola Jokic (1.2bn views)
The NBA’s best-selling jersey rankings are based on NBAStore.com sales, and this marks is the first time since the 2012/13 regular season that James or Curry have not topped the list. Back then, Carmelo Anthony led the way while playing for the Knicks.
Dončić, who in 2024 ranked 71st in SportsPro’s list of the world’s most marketable athletes, joined the Lakers from the Dallas Mavericks in February as part of a shock three-team trade which saw Anthony Davis go the other way.
The trade already appears to have had a significant impact on sales of Dončić jerseys, after the 26-year-old was eighth on the list when the NBA released the rankings for the first half of the 2024/25 season in January
All eyes will be continue to be on Dončić as he makes his playoff debut for the Lakers when they take on the Minnesota Timberwolves in game one of their best-of-seven series on 19th April.
