AC Milan are planning for next season and have identified the signing of a new winger as a priority, as per reports.
The decision has put the future of current winger Samuel Chukwueze in doubt.
Chukwueze joined the Rossoneri in 2023, but the Nigerian has scored just eight times in 64 appearances for the Italian giants.
Milan are currently focused on appointing a new sporting director to oversee the club’s transfer strategy, but they are simultaneously looking at several transfer targets.
With Chukwueze struggling to establish himself in the team, having been overshadowed by Christian Pulisic, the Rossoneri are keen to sign another winger in the summer.
Chukwueze nearly left Milan in January to join Fulham, but the deal fell through; however, the Italian giants are expected to actively seek a buyer for him in the summer transfer window.
According to MilanNews, the club believe that signing a new attacking winger will be a necessary improvement to their squad.
Clearly there are some positions that will need to be strengthened regardless, but above all they want to get to the summer already with a range of available names to work on. Furthermore, Milan have put Chukwueze up for sale after two years of anonymity,” Antonio Vitiello stated in his MilanNews column.
“He is one of the transferable ones on the market after he almost packed his bags in January to join Fulham. The deal fell through due to a question of time, but in the three summer months there will be plenty of time to find a solution
The report indicated that any adjustments to a back-three formation would be at the discretion of the club’s new manager, as it is improbable that Sergio Conceicao will stay with the club past the summer.
Milan welcome Atalanta to San Siro on Sunday, April 20, bidding to claim their 15th Serie A triumph of 2024-25.
