Florentino Perez has just given Real Madrid’s players an extra incentive to produce a comeback against Arsenal in the Champions League.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side are having to come from three down goals following their heavy defeat to Arsenal in North London last week.
Declan Rice’s two sensational free-kicks and Mikel Merino adding a third means the Gunners are in firm control of the tie as they head to the Spanish capital.
Ahead of Wednesday’s clash at the Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid president Perez has put a big reward on the line should the team manage to turn the tie around to reach the last four.
Florentino Perez has promised to reward Real Madrid’s squad with big bonuses should they complete the comeback against Arsenal, according to Sport.
Perez rewarded the players for defeating city rivals Ateltico in the Champions League Round of 16 and he is now hoping that another monetary incentive will spur the team on to turn the tie around.
Following the club’s win over Alaves on Sunday, the Madrid president went into the away dressing room and addressed the squad.
Los Blancos will need to produce a much better performance than they did in the first-leg with Arsenal managing to silence Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr.
According to Opta Analyst, Madrid’s chances of reaching the semi-finals stand at just eight percent.
In order to advance, Madrid need four goals, something they’ve managed eight times across this campaign.
However, that will be easier said than done as Arsenal have not conceded three times in one match inover a year and have one of the best defences in Europe.
When asked about whether Madrid can pull off the improbable, Jude Bellingham told the media: “Re-mont-a-da. I’ve probably heard it a million times in the locker room, from the fans and the press. It’s a night tailor-made for Real Madrid. It’s something that people are familiar with.”
