There is a lot at stake in the Coppa Italia final, for personal and future reasons, and AC Milan must look to bring the trophy home.
Beating Inter (again) is a fantastic achievement, but its value will decrease if Milan are unable to make the final step. Unfortunately, this has regularly been an issue throughout the season.
In the Champions League, the Rossoneri went on a fantastic run, even beating Real Madrid in the process, but when it mattered, they bottled their chances in the final game against Dinamo Zagreb. Then, they fell short against Feyenoord at San Siro, despite getting an early hold on the game.
There are certainly other examples of this this season, but there cannot be another added to the catalogue. So, put simply, the Diavolo must win the Coppa Italia with arguably the hardest work already done, with the greatest respect.
According to Football Italia, just getting into the final brings the club €4.6 million, though that figure would rise to €7.1m if the side win their second trophy of the season.
Then, winning the competition also brings about an easier opponent in the Supercoppa Italiana, at least on paper, where another €10m can be attained for winning. Considering how much work is planned this summer, an extra €17m would not be turned down.
