Breaking news: Mikel Arteta given Martin Zubimendi Arsenal transfer ‘guarantee’ as Dean Huijsen talks revealed

Mikel Arteta will be putting his players through their paces this weekend. Arsenal will meet Paris Saint-Germain at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final.

Unlike the French giants – who will take on OGC Nice at Les Parc des Princes on Friday night – Arsenal don’t have a domestic game this weekend. The extra rest could have a significant bearing on the result with Arteta still carefully managing Bukayo Saka’s workload

That said, Luis Enrique will likely heavily rotate his PSG line-up, having already won Ligue 1. So, with that being said, football.london has rounded up the latest Arsenal news and transfer gossip;

According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are still in talks with Dean Huijsen over a potential transfer in the summer. The 20-year-old defender has been heavily linked with lots of top clubs this season as he continues to impress for AFC Bournemouth.

The report argues that Chelsea and Liverpool are also in talks with Huijsen’s entourage. It’s said that Bayern Munich are keen on the Spain international, but any proposed bid would depend on whether they can generate funds from player sales.

Romano adds that Real Madrid are interested, but they haven’t decided whether they want to sign a new centre-back or not. The youngster has a £50m release clause, and no decision has been made on his future yet.

According to The Sun, Arsenal remain confident in signing Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad this summer. The 25-year-old midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid recently, but the Gunners still expect to secure his signature.

That report reckons that Zubimendi was attracted by Arteta’s project at the Emirates Stadium. football.london understands that the Gunners are long admirers of the Spain international, who has a release clause worth €60m (£52.3m) in his contract.

It’s believed that Arsenal have been tracking the playmaker for over a year, with interest dating back to the summer of 2023. Arteta is known to be a big admirer of Zubimendi, who has garnered interest from many of Europe’s top clubs.

The Ashburton Army, who are a group of Arsenal fans that primarily sit in block 25 of the Clock End stand at the Emirates Stadium, have announced that a tifo won’t be on display when the Gunners meet PSG in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

An official statement from them reads: “In just 24 hours, Arsenal fans came together to raise over £10,000 to fund what would have been our biggest ever display for the Champions League semi-final against PSG.

“Unfortunately, the club has declined our proposed design, and so there won’t be a display in the Clock End. As a result, everyone who contributed will be fully refunded.

This doesn’t change the importance of the game – we still need every single one of you on it, bringing the noise and backing the team like never before. Thank you to everyone who donated, we are grateful for your continued support. Here are the declined proposals.

The Ashburton Army were responsible for the Thierry Henry tifo that was on show when Arsenal hosted Real Madrid a couple of weeks ago. Ironically, Arteta has urged supporters to get behind his squad for the PSG tie.
