Despite being down 3-1 in their series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, LeBron James and Luka Doncic are ready for a fight.
The Los Angeles Lakers let Game 4 slip from their hands, as they lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Lakers now find themselves down 3-1 in the series.
Austin Reaves has looked like a shell of himself during this series. Even the coaches are catching criticism, with Magic Johnson blasting JJ Redick after Game 4.
Redick was visibly shaken by the Timberwolves, as was seen by his handling of Jaxson Hayes. It looks like the playoffs are getting to the first-time head coach.
But perhaps luckily for him, he has two stars who have been to this dance before. And they aren’t wavering in their pursuit of greatness.
Luka Doncic and LeBron James spoke after Game 4 of their first-round series. When talking about being down 3-1, Luka Doncic welcomed the challenge.
“It’s definitely disappointing, but we haven’t lost anything yet. First to 4 wins and we just gotta still believe…”
“Yeah, it’s a fun challenge. We have the motivation to win these next two games.
“It’s going to be very hard. Every possession is going to matter. And we’re going to give 100% no matter what.”
While LeBron James tapped into his own experience of being down 3-1, noting that the Lakers can and will only take things one game at a time going forward.
“You don’t think about winning 3. You just think about getting the next one. That’s the only thing that matters. Because if not, the offseason begins. It’s all about Wednesday. That’s what’s important.”
This current Lakers squad has experienced plenty of playoff adversity in the past. For the last few years, they have had to fight through the play-in tournament just to keep themselves alive.
They are going to have to bring the fight they’ve shown in years past to Game 5. In a win-or-go-home situation at the Crypto.com Arena, the Lakers cannot afford to be complacent.
Both LeBron James and Luka Doncic have made brilliant playoff runs in the last two years. They must tap into those versions of themselves going forward.
As the two most experienced and the two most prolific stars on the team, the Lakers will rely on James and Doncic to bring them back in this series.
