MN: Minimum effort for maximum yield…see more

AC Milan returned to winning ways in the league as they followed up their midweek derby victory against Inter in the Coppa Italia with a win in Venice.

Milan emerged from the lagoon with all three points and a third clean sheet in four games. Christian Pulisic scored early and Santiago Gimenez scored late, securing a win that doesn’t move the needle much in terms of the league table, but does build confidence in view of the Coppa Italia final.

This morning’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes that the Rossoneri were ‘pragmatic’ in Venice. They suffered at times during the match from the advances of Eusebio Di Francesco’s team, who had also deservedly found the equaliser with Yeboah, but offside ruled it out.

In the end what counts is the victory, something that Milan have failed to obtain many times in a difficult 2024-25 season. Mike Maignan’s clean sheet and Gimenez’s goal were the big positives, the latter returning to scoring after more than two months.

Yesterday’s three points are good for morale in view of the game against Bologna in the Rome final, which we could say is without too many problems the most important match of the season for Milan.

The paper talks about how Conceicao’s side put in ‘minimum effort for maximum yield’ at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo, adding: “Two flashes are enough for Milan and Gimenez ends the fast.”
