Anthony Edwards did not have his best game of the series in Thursday’s Game 6 matchup between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Los Angeles Lakers.
In fact, the same could be said for the Wolves in general after they collectively shot just 40.4% from the field and 14.9% from distance on Thursday night.
Nevertheless, Minnesota was still able to close the series out with a massive win at Crypto.com Arena, 103-96, thereby putting an end to LeBron James and the Lakers’ season.
A video of Edwards in the aftermath of Minnesota’s series-clinching win is currently making its rounds on social media. In it, the three-time All-Star is seen issuing a bold warning for the rest of the NBA after taking out L.A
“We shot 7-of-47 from three and we still beat Luka [Doncic] and LeBron,” Edwards said. “I think they the best closers in the game, so who the (expletive) we worried about?”
Edwards also called out Stephen A. Smith, Paul Pierce and all of the other analysts at ESPN who counted out Minnesota in this series. They all had the Lakers coming out of this first-round clash, and Edwards and the Wolves just made them eat their words.
Edwards scored 15 points in Game 6 on 5-of-19 from the floor. He missed all 11 of his attempts from deep.
Nevertheless, the Wolves still powered through, and they are now awaiting the winners of the Golden State Warriors-Houston Rockets series to determine their opponents in the next round.
Edwards has made it abundantly clear with his comments above, however, that the confidence is oozing from this young man — especially after sending the Lakers packing.
