LEBRON James had a message for his son on his way out of the Los Angeles Lakers locker room for potentially the last time.
The Lakers were beaten 4-1 by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the NBA playoffs.
James, 40, admitted he is considering retirement after the setback.
The four-time NBA champion has accomplished virtually everything in the game.
He is arguably the greatest player ever and the leading scorer of all-time.
But James conceded that playing with his son Bronny this year has been his career highlight.
And according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin after the loss to Minnesota, he aimed a joke at Bronny.
The 40-year-old was saying bye to his teammates for the summer.
And he said to Bronny, “All right, have a good offseason.
“I’ll see you when I see you.”
James reflected on Bronny’s development since he was selected by the Lakers in the NBA Draft last summer.
He said, “To be able to play the game that I love and to be able to be along my son this year has been one of the most gratifying, satisfying journeys that I’ve ever been on.
“Just to see his growth from the moment he was drafted when we were all in New York at the draft party.
“Seeing him in summer league, struggle early on, and pick it up towards the end.
“To get on the floor with him in preseason for the first time to getting on the court versus this Minnesota team, game one.”
James continued, “He has a bright future, because not only can he play the game of basketball, he’s just a great f***ing kid.
“You can ask anybody – any one of his teammates, any one of his coaches – he’s just a joy to be around.
“And I have to say that I have a lot to do with that.”
If James returns next season, it will be his 23rd in the NBA.
“I don’t know right now,” James said about his future.
“I’ll sit down with my family, my wife and my support group and kind of just talk through it and see what happens.
“And just have a conversation with myself on how long I want to continue to play.”
