William Saliba has reacted to an announcement regarding his teammate Declan Rice just days before Arsenal face PSG.
The Gunners are just one game away from reaching the Champions League final, with Mikel Arteta under pressure to win silverware with Arsenal, but they face an uphill battle at the Parc des Princes.
Travelling to France on Wednesday, 7 May, the North London side will have to overcome a one-goal deficit, and Ousmane Dembele scored the only goal at the Emirates Stadium in the first leg.
Arteta certainly has Rice to thank for reaching the semi-finals this season, having scored two outrageous free-kicks against Real Madrid in the previous round, and the midfielder is earning his plaudits.
Taking to Instagram (6 May), the official Arsenal account wrote: “Introducing our Player of the Month, as voted for by you… Declan Rice,” alongside a gold medal emoji.
As a show of support for his teammate, Saliba liked the announcement on social media.
With just an FA Cup trophy in the cabinet since Arteta’s arrival, it is understandable why some supporters are growing frustrated, especially if the team finish below Man City in the Premier League.
It has been a hugely frustrating season for the Citizens, but with a second-place finish and the FA Cup in their grasp, they will still finish the campaign more accomplished than the Gunners.
Injuries have left Arteta without a recognised striker for the past few weeks, and with Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres on the Arsenal radar, that problem could be quickly fixed this summer.
That looks to be the final piece of the puzzle at the Emirates Stadium, and if they can lift the Champions League title this term, it might persuade the star to move to North London.
