Igli Tare will have a lot to do in his first few days at Casa Milan, according to a report, and it all starts with the head coach appointment as well as Tijjani Reijnders’ future.
According to today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below), Tare has already signed a contract with Milan and the official announcement will thus arrive tomorrow or in the following days. However, although he’s signed a three-year deal, he’s in a rush to get things going immediately.
There are a couple of priorities that need dealing with straight away, something Tare will do once he arrives in Milan. He will be fully operational on Monday or Tuesday and, as expected, the first few days will be filled with meetings at Casa Milan to get things in order.
Tare will bring his experience to the table, following 15 years in Serie A, a period during which he discovered, developed and sold many successful players. Milan want the same thing, of course, but the situation is slightly more complicated.
First of all, Tare will be tasked with identifying the right man for Milan’s bench next season. The coach will also have an important say when it comes to the mercato, but some evaluations have already been made by the club on that front.
Tijjani Reijnders, for example, is considered to be a key player for the Rossoneri’s restart. At the same time, he has attracted the interest of several big clubs. Not just Manchester City, but also the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona.
All of this despite the contract renewal until 2030 that was signed as recently as March. Tare wouldn’t be surprised if an offer were to arrive next week for the Dutchman, with Pep Guardiola keen on having him available as soon as possible.
Milan don’t want to become a ‘supermarket’, as the newspaper continues, as they believe next season without European football will be an isolated incident. They simply must return to European football for the 2026-27 season and that’s why they want to keep the cornerstones, including Reijnders.
Loanees and others to be evaluated
The third priority for Tare, during his first days at Casa Milan, will be to make a decision on those who will return from loan spells. The feeling is that Pierre Kalulu will be redeemed by Juventus, which would bring €14m for the mercato, but there isn’t the same confidence for Ismael Bennacer (Marseille).
The same can also be said for the likes of Yacine Adli (Fiorentina) and Tommaso Pobega (Bologna), while it’s 100% certain that Noah Okafor won’t stay at Napoli. Lorenzo Colombo and Devis Vasquez, who are both at Empoli, could leave for low figures and moves are thus very possible, but relegation to Serie B could change that.
For Alvaro Morata, there will be time to talk to Galatasaray in January or June 2026. There is no set figure for Saelemaekers, whom Roma would like to keep, and the Giallorossi are yet to reach an agreement with the Belgian (which they need before starting talks with Milan).
A counterpart could be offered, but it won’t be Tammy Abraham as his chances of staying at Milan are decreasing due to the high salary and the decline in the last few months.
