Player Ratings: AC Milan 2-0 Monza…see more

AC Milan clinched a comfortable 2-0 win against Monza in the final game of the season. Several players did well in attack and below are the ratings for the Rossoneri.

If you haven’t already, make sure to check out how we decide the player ratings. From the scale to what affects the rating, we have compiled everything there. Note: I didn’t name any MOTM tonight due to multiple players on the same rating.

Starting XI

Maignan (7): He preserved the clean sheet with a fantastic reflex save in the dying minutes (which was also Monza’s second shot on target). He truly showed his class there and while he was heading for a 6, such a save bumps him up significantly.

Tomori (6.5): The Englishman was solid in defence, with some good interceptions thanks to aggressive positioning, but his main contribution came in attack tonight. He often pushed forward to offer support and had some very nice crosses, including the one for Joao Felix when he hit the bar.

Gabbia (7): He had some good passes forward in the first half, but ultimately it was mostly defending in that period of the game. It was the same in the second half, with little involvement in the build-up, but then he opened the scoring after a nice run and finish on a corner.

Pavlovic (6): We saw a nice free-kick from him in the first half, even if the goalkeeper perhaps made it look better than it was, and he was solid overall in defence. He definitely showed enough to get a pass here.

Musah (5): Granted that almost every single player was poor in the first half, the American certainly didn’t improve his chances of staying at the club. In usual fashion, he skied an effort on the edge of the box and then completely mishit a pass in another good position.

Loftus-Cheek (6): He wasn’t brilliant in transition defensively, often pushing up very high to press, only to be beaten by a simple flick or turn. Then again, he’s not a defensive midfielder and we did at least see some good tackles and interceptions from him, as well as some nice short passes all over the pitch.

Reijnders (6.5): In a first half that was incredibly dull, he at least dared to attempt some advanced passes and runs as well. The control of his teammates often let him down in that sense. He missed a good chance in the second half, but ultimately his contribution was more than average tonight.

Bartesaghi (6): It was very average from him, it has to be said, but we did see a couple of good crosses (one for Camarda) and decent ability on the ball. Defensively, he could have done better on a couple of occasions but was solid overall.

Pulisic (7): He was involved in a lot from start to finish, showing off good technique, skill and unselfishness in many situations. He came somewhat close to a goal in the second half, following a good run, but hit the side-netting. It was a shame that he couldn’t set a new personal record because all things considered, it was a very positive display tonight.

Jovic (5): In the entire first half, he only had like one good flick, which was for Pulisic on the left flank. It was definitely right to take him off and his replacement proved that. If it ends up being his last game for Milan, he will surely be very disappointed about the ending.

Joao Felix (7): He missed a 1v1 early in the first half, which wasn’t fantastic from him overall aside from some good flicks and touches. In the second half, however, he was like a completely different player with very nice combination play and good decision-making.

He won the free-kick that he converted himself (nice strike, even if the wall wasn’t amazing) and also hit the bar earlier on with a great header. In short, had it not been for the first half, he would have easily been the MOTM here.

Substitutes

Camarda (6.5): The youngster was incredibly lively after coming on, nearly scoring a great goal after lifting it over the defender and then forcing the keeper to a good save on the volley. It was slight handball anyway so it wouldn’t have counted, but he showed his ability there.

He combined well with his teammates (especially a nice chest-down for Joao Felix), but also missed a couple of good chances. One of them he definitely should have got on target, after a good pass by Chukwueze. Towards the end, he lost a bit of energy too.

Chukwueze (7): Like Camarda, he entered the pitch with a lot of energy and found a lot of success with his dribbling attempts. He set up Camarda for one good chance, as said, but before that he also got the assist for the opener with a nice corner. We saw some good stuff after that too, so it was definitely positive from him.

Jimenez (N/A): We didn’t see enough to give him a rating.

Fofana (N/A): We didn’t see enough to give him a rating.

Florenzi (N/A): We didn’t see enough to give him a rating.
