LeBron James should be proud of how his 22nd NBA campaign played out.
Although the Los Angeles Lakers failed to win a playoff series, James proved he’s still capable of being a high-impact asset at age 40.
More impressively, the four-time Finals MVP made history on Friday, prompting him to craft an inspirational tweet on X/Twitter.
“ALL NBA at 40,” James wrote. “Low key crazy to me right now! Sitting here watching the playoffs just thinking about it. Blessed beyond I can even imagine.”
James earned an All-NBA second-team selection after averaging 24.4 points, 8.2 assists, and 7.8 rebounds per game, making him the oldest player to earn an All-NBA nod.
The 6-foot-9 superhuman forward played well to start the year, but there’s no doubt that the midseason acquisition of Luka Doncic made his job a lot easier.
Doncic’s commitment to making timely and effective reads on the perimeter while drawing multiple defenders undoubtedly lowered James’ stress level on the hardwood.
The Lakers finished the regular season with a respectable 50-32 record and the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference.
However, due to the organization’s small-ball approach, the Timberwolves enjoyed a 4-1 first-round series victory over the star-studded Lakers.
Still, James, who has a $52.6 million player option for the 2025-26 season, should feel confident in the franchise’s ability to land a talented forward or center in free agency, giving them a much-needed frontcourt weapon for the upcoming NBA campaign.
