Breaking news: Joao Felix scores stunning free-kick in final game on loan … see more

It is fair to say things didn’t work out as planned for the Portuguese star. Felix admitted when he arrived he wanted to stay at the Serie A club permanently

That won’t be happening though after a nightmare spell which has seen Felix slammed by Italian media for not having the impact all parties were hoping for.

It looked for a long time that the attacker was going to go his entire loan spell without scoring a league goal. However, Felix found the net against Roma recently to begin to remind everyone of the quality that he has.

As Milan played their final game of the season against Monza, the Chelsea loanee was handed one last chance to show whoever he needs to ahead of next season that he still has plenty to offer.

He did just this by scoring a fine free-kick in the second half, putting the game beyond doubt as his side picked up a 2-0 win.

With the Club World Cup just a few weeks away, there will be plenty of eyes on Felix’s situation after many have criticised Chelsea for the business they conducted to bring him back to the club in the first place.

There is even a chance Felix could face Chelsea in that competition, with his future looking more likely to be away from Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are hoping to part ways with the forward this summer, however will know that they face an uphill battle to find a permanent suitor for him.

Cristiano Ronaldo has tried to convince Felix about a move to Saudi Arabia, however on paper the Portugal star still has plenty of years where he could play at the top level of European football.

Fabrizio Romano has named three destinations he could join, with one of them seeing a fairytale return to Benfica.

With the Blues welcoming the likes of Estevao Willian and Kendry Paez to their squad this summer, it is difficult to see Felix making a comeback as a Chelsea player in the upcoming season.
