AC Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani has pledged to deliver announcements about the club’s future next week, responding to the protests from fans.
The build-up to the game has been marred by protests from Milan fans. Firstly it was announced that they will exit the stadium after 15 minutes and leave the team ‘alone with their shame’, while thousands gathered outside Casa Milan to chant against the ownership and management.
In terms of what is left to fight for on the field in the final league match, the answer is very little. Bologna’s defeat to Genoa means that it is possible for Milan to finish eighth and avoid a Coppa Italia game in August against Bari, the competition that the Rossoblu ironically beat them in the final of.
Furlani spoke to DAZN just before kick-off at San Siro and his answers were relayed by MilanNews.
A thought on the fan protests?
“There is great anger and regret among the fans, feelings that we also have. Today the season ends, from tomorrow we will start again immediately in view of the next season.
“There can’t be just one reason, we are far from our expectations. We start again tomorrow, there are several things to fix because next season can’t be like this one.”
Will Igli Tare be the new sporting director?
“Next week will be the week of announcements. Have a little patience.”
But is Tare coming?
“I keep saying to wait for next week’s announcements.”
Could big players leave?
“I would focus on what we need to strengthen ourselves, because there have also been mistakes in the planning of the squad. The way we are managed, sacrifices will not be necessary.”
Napoli won the Scudetto with Conte…
“Congratulations to them and Conte for winning the title. We made many mistakes, so I wouldn’t focus on just one.”
