Breaking news: Keep or sell? A verdict on every player in the Arsenal squad… see more

After a third consecutive second-place finish in the Premier League, Arsenal are preparing for a busy summer of buying and selling players. Sporting director Andrea Berta will lead their recruitment efforts, with a new forward understood to be one of the top priorities.

The Spaniard has won the Golden Glove award for the most Premier League clean sheets in both of his campaigns at Arsenal (this season, he shared it with Nottingham Forest’s Matz Sels). He has established himself as one of Europe’s best goalkeepers

The Estonia international has had a busy season on loan in Spain, where he has played regularly for Real Valladolid. The 23-year-old could not stop his team from finishing last in La Liga, but is regarded as a player of potential. Arsenal could generate a small fee for him.

Signed on loan on deadline day as a backup to Raya, Neto has made only one appearance in an Arsenal shirt, away to Girona in the Champions League. He struggled in that game. A popular character behind the scenes, but clearly not the future. He returns to Bournemouth.

One of Europe’s best defenders, and there is still room for improvement. A slight dip in the final weeks of the campaign should not detract from the overall quality he has shown. With two years remaining on his current deal, it is time for a new contract.

An incredible breakthrough season for the teenager, now the first-choice left-back for Arsenal and an England international, too. A new contract must be one of the top priorities for the club this summer.

Timber has produced a superb individual campaign, making 48 appearances in all competitions and thriving at right-back. His resilience was all the more impressive because his first season in England was ruined by a serious knee injury.

Arguably Arsenal’s player of the season until he suffered a serious injury in early April. A leader of the defence and the team has missed him badly since he was ruled out. As with Saliba, his contract expires in two years.

An injury-disrupted campaign for White but he remains a key player in Mikel Arteta’s defence, capable of operating as a right-back or a centre-back. A full pre-season should put him in a good place ahead of the new campaign.

Signed last summer in a deal worth up to £42 million, Calafiori has shown glimpses of class but has struggled with fitness issues. He needs to stay fit if Arsenal are to see value for money.

The Poland international has largely performed above expectations since coming into the team following Gabriel’s injury. He has enhanced his reputation — and also his transfer value. There will not be a better time to cash in.

Has been dreadfully unfortunate with injuries, making only one appearance this season (and playing for only six minutes in that game). His knee injury is expected to keep him out until late 2025, so there is no chance of selling him this summer.

A fan favourite but the tactical evolution of the team, combined with his injury issues, mean he has been left behind in the past few years. He returns to Celtic on a free transfer this summer

Played a major role in Arsenal’s transformation into title challengers a few years ago, but has since fallen out of favour in north London. He has so much ability on the ball but lacks the defensive solidity that Arteta now wants from his full-backs. With one year remaining on his deal, this is the time for Arsenal to say goodbye.

Never good enough for Arsenal, but has enjoyed an encouraging loan spell with Lazio in Italy. He is expected to move permanently to the Serie A side in a deal worth around £7 million.

Probably Arsenal’s best player this season. Rice continues to grow in stature and is now adding more goals and assists to his game.

One of the most exciting young prospects in the European game. This has been a thrilling campaign for the 18-year-old. His return of nine goals in all competitions shows why he must be given a new contract as soon as possible.

A challenging campaign by his own high standards but Odegaard remains the leader of this Arsenal squad and the creative heartbeat of the team.

Has become a fan favourite after reinventing himself as an emergency striker in the second half of the campaign. He will hope to spend more time in his preferred midfield position next year.

Has produced his best season in an Arsenal shirt, making more than 50 appearances. Arteta has made it clear he wants Partey to be given a new deal (his current contract expires this summer). But he turns 32 in June, has a long history of injuries and earns big wages.

There can be no doubting Vieira’s technical ability and passing range, but he has struggled with the physical nature of English football. He has spent this season on loan at Porto, where he has scored four goals and registered four assists. Arsenal paid around £30 million for him in 2022 but will surely have to sell for a smaller fee this summer.

Leaving for Brazilian side Flamengo this summer. A leader of the squad and one of the most experienced players, he will be missed off the pitch.

A series of injury problems have prevented Lokonga from producing his best football on loan at Sevilla. With one year remaining on his Arsenal contract, they might have to accept a relatively cheap price

There can be no questioning Saka’s importance to the Arsenal project. As of this summer, he has two years remaining on his contract – and is therefore in need of a new deal.

One of Arteta’s favourite players, and one Arsenal badly missed after he suffered a serious hamstring injury in February. His physicality and versatility make him crucial to Arsenal’s hopes of success.

Martinelli is a frustrating player at times and it would not be a surprise if Arsenal attempted to upgrade the left-wing position this summer. He is still a dangerous and important winger, though, and the squad would be weaker without him.

Now 30, Trossard has been a valuable member of the team because of his versatility in attack. In a summer in which Arsenal are hoping to add more bodies to the frontline, though, he could quickly fall down the pecking order. This summer probably represents a good time to sell, if the right signings can be made.

The Brazilian suffered a serious knee injury in January and might not be fit until midway through next season. If he had not been injured, this would have been the summer to sell him (he has two years remaining on his contract

Produced some encouraging performances on loan at Fulham in the first half of the season, before his campaign was ruined by a serious hamstring problem. He has not played since December. Arsenal will listen to offers, but how many offers will there be?

The 22-year-old Brazilian has never been good enough to make a significant impact in the first team. He is on loan at Brazilian side Cruzeiro until December

Unable to find the form of old during a disappointing loan spell from Chelsea, making only seven starts in the Premier League.
