AC Milan, this afternoon, confirmed the signing of Igli Tare as the new sporting director of the Rossoneri. Here is everything they had to say.
As of this evening, Milan have now entered a new era. One where the Rossoneri seemingly have aspirations of becoming a ‘protagonist in Italy and Europe’, as they were before. The starting point for this is, of course, the appointment of Igli Tare.
The Albanian sporting director was announced after months of back and forth, and in the club’s statement, he stated the following:
“Joining a Club like Milan is a source of great pride and responsibility. I thank the club for entrusting me with this role. The club knows my great determination and my desire to do well by putting all my experience at the service of a great Club that has the absolute objective of returning to being a protagonist in Italy and Europe.”
He was not the only one to offer thoughts on the move, with Giorgio Furlani also adding to the sentiments. The CEO has led the process of his hiring, after Gerry Cardinale restructured the management.
“We are delighted to welcome Igli Tare into the Rossoneri family. He is the right choice to start over from: his expertise, determination and strong values, combined with a solid knowledge of Italian football and an international vision, make him the ideal figure to contribute to the Club’s relaunch through the development of an ambitious sporting project.”
It is worth noting that the new sporting director will ‘report to the club’s CEO’ as it is explicitly stated in the statement. Considering Furlani offered a warning prior to his arrival, this is only further cementing this idea.
