One of Massimiliano Allegri’s desires in the summer window is to sign Giovanni Leoni from Parma, according to a report.
Tuttosport report that Leoni is turning heads after his super performances in the second half of the season at the age of just 18. He has attracted the interest of basically every top team in Italy, and scouts from the big clubs have been showing up at the Tardini every week.
In recent times the frequency of appearances in the stands by Milan’s emissaries has grown. The Rossoneri are looking for a reinforcement in the centre of defence and they have put the teenager near the top of their list.
Full agreement on Leoni
Leoni has all the characteristics that Milan are looking for: solid and reliable when it comes to marking but also young, with great room for improvement and Italian.
The new sporting director Igli Tare and Allegri intend to ‘Italianise’ the squad, creating a hard core of local players. This is one reason why Leoni is liked and fully meets the criteria that the Albanian director has set.
Among other things, the No.46 has also been on Moncada’s radar for months. Allegri saw him train up close when he went to visit Cherubini in Collecchio in April and saw him live in May during Parma-Como. Leoni passed the test and was promoted by the Livorno coach, who hopes to have him.
