Emerging as Arsenal’s first big transfer decision of the summer is the choice between signing RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko or Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres.
Agreed upon that Mikel Arteta’s squad lacks the clinical edge a No.9 would provide, the talented duo are top of the Gunners’ list for reinforcing what challenges to be a Premier League title-winning squad.
Still unclear is who the candidate will be between Sesko and Gyokeres, as the Slovenian and Swede offer different qualities and advantages upon their potential arrival.
Gyokeres’ former Coventry City teammate, Leo Ostigard, made a video call to the striker whilst on a recent episode of the Flymodus podcast.
It was quite clearly the man himself on the call as he was asked who will be his next club, and specifically if it will be Arsenal.
He laughed: “No, we will see. Nobody knows anything yet. I wish I had a more fun answer but that is all I can say for now.”
As Ostigard signed off from the call, he requested to be kept in the loop about when ‘everything is signed and sorted down at Arsenal’.
The former is said to have ‘universal backing’ as Arsenal lay out the framework with RB Leipzig over a move. On his side is the fact he is still 21 with quality in abundance and room for improvement, though a £93m fee could prove a steep challenge.
Meanwhile Gyokeres offers less in the way of longevity as he is already 26, but is expected to be available at a lower price.
