Kevin De Bruyne decided to complete his transfer to Napoli only after participating in international duty with Belgium.
He had been expected to undergo medical tests at the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome today, then sign the paperwork for a two-year deal with the Partenopei, plus option for a third season.
However, the Manchester City midfielder preferred to focus on the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with Belgium first.
This does not in any way change the fact that he has chosen Napoli for his next club after the contract with Manchester City was allowed to run down.
Now he is expected to finalise the details and medical tests next week, before going on a summer vacation with his family.
The 33-year-old is expected to earn circa €5.5m per season in wages, plus a €10m signing on bonus.
It is just a matter of time before De Bruyne is wearing the Napoli jersey and working with Antonio Conte to prepare next season as reigning Champions of Italy.
