The inevitable seems to be on the way, with a deal between AC Milan and Manchester City for Tijjani Reijnders close to being completed.
With a season like Reijnders’, it was always going to be difficult to keep him at Milan next season. However, when Man City got involved in proceedings, it went to another level. In fact, it seemed like an inevitability after the first rumours.
So, after a few weeks of negotiations, and the Dutchman cancelling his holiday, it is no surprise that a deal is close to being completed. According to Fabrizio Romano, the famous ‘here we go’ phrase will be deployed soon.
The English club are ‘closing in’ on the deal, with the final agreements being made. City have been seeking to get things done before the start of the Club World Cup later this month, hence the urgency from them since the Coppa Italia final.
Reijnders, according to the tweet, has also already agreed personal terms with the Manchester outfit, too, meaning there is one less thing required to be completed before the deal is finalised. Unfortunately, it now seems like a case of when and not if, just as Ruud Gullit stated last week.
