Luka Modric has said yes to AC Milan and he is expected to sign his contract next week after doing a medical, reports claim.
Multiple reports claimed last night that Modric is very close to signing with Milan as a free agent. Things moved quickly from the initial interest spoken about on Monday night, and he should soon sign a one-year deal with the club he grew up supporting.
Modric to Milan: Done deal!
According to Calciomercato.com, sporting director Igli Tare went on a mission to Croatian, where he spoke with Modric at the national team’s retreat and management to convince him to accept Milan.
The Croatian international is expected in Milan on either Monday or Tuesday for medical visits before signing the annual contract with an option for a second season at €4m net per season, including bonuses.
Modric will not be Reijnders’ replacement but a signing of experience, quality and leadership for a team that needs to restart after a disastrous, season. Tare will now set off to complete a deal for Samuele Ricci and a new box-to-box midfielder.
MilanNews also state that Modric has an agreement with Milan. He ‘could not resist’ the temptation of joining the club he has always said he has supported since he was a child and has accepted the offer to move to the Rossoneri in what could likely be the last adventure of his career.
Modric is expected in Milan for the routine medical tests at the beginning of next week, most likely Monday. That evening he will be busy in a World Cup qualifier match between Croatia and the Czech Republic but could travel to Milan during the day with a special permit.
Otherwise it will be postponed to Tuesday, but the important thing is that Modric has accepted the offer of a one-year contract, with an option for another, worth almost €4m per year.
The player will conclude his journey with Real Madrid in the Club World Cup and after the holidays he will be available to Allegri.
