It is no surprise that Reijnders is in demand given that he racked up 15 goals and six assists, after getting four of each in 50 games last season. Before the last game of the season, he was presented with the Lega Serie A Team of the Season award, crowning him as the best midfielder in the league.
However, it seems that the Dutchman has already played his last game for Milan, because Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign him as per multiple reports on Wednesday morning.
Fabrizio Romano writes: “Reijnders to Manchester City, here we go! Verbal agreement in place for Dutch midfielder to join Man City. Deal almost done since yesterday as revealed and now being finalised for package worth around €70m. Personal terms sealed days ago and formal steps to follow.
Meanwhile, Sky also claim that Milan and Tijjani Reijnders are close to parting ways. His transfer to the Premier League is getting closer and closer and a basic agreement has been reached for a figure of around €70m, bonuses included.
Reijnders’ sale, including bonuses, could become the most expensive transfer ever in the history of Milan. At the moment, in fact, the record has stood since the distant summer of 2009: Kakà to Real Madrid, for €67m.
Finally, Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting that Reijnders will join Manchester City – crucially before the Club World Cup in the United States, too – for a figure of €70m which is inclusive of add-ons.
