Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze has hinted that he would like to stay at AC Milan despite his poor campaign in the just-concluded season.
Chukwueze endured a difficult campaign with AC Milan in the Serie A, as his game time was badly limited. He only managed three goals and two assists in 26 league games last season.
In fact, since the start of the year, Chukwueze only managed 180 minutes of action at the club. And although Conceicao, who was in charge has now been replaced by Massimiliano Allegri, it appears that the Nigerian’s days at AC Milan are numbered.
Moreover, in recent weeks, there have been reports that the Rossoneri see Chukwueze as dispensaries and are willing to let him leave.
Fulham and Villarreal have been touted as potential destinations, as both teams need attacking reinforcements.
Recall that Chukwueze played some of his best football with the Yellow Submarine. So the club would likely welcome him back if they can reach a financial agreement with AC Milan.
However, while talks about Chukwueze leaving the Rossoneri continue, the Super Eagles star still sees his future with the 19-time Scudetto winners.
Chukwueze has spent two seasons at AC Milan, and his situation has only gotten worse. He has been starved of game time badly.
He has played under three coaches-Stefano Pioli, Conceicao, and Paulo Fonseca- and he did not cement his place as a starter under any of them.
With the history that he has in Italy, it is not certain that his fortunes will improve under the new coach. As such, he should look at other opportunities.
Returning to Villarreal would not be a bad idea as he has good history with them. He will also play in the UEFA Champions League.
Premier League club Fulham would not be a bad idea too. If they can guarantee him enough playing time, it would not be a bad deal.
