Nearly three months into the new league year, the San Francisco 49ers still have multiple players from their 2024 roster who are still unsigned and looking for their next opportunity in the NFL.
However, that group shrank on Saturday when wide receiver Chris Conley announced his retirement from the NFL through his agent, Jonathan Perzley.
Conley, 32, played collegiately at Georgia from 2011-14, catching 117 passes for 1,938 yards and 20 touchdowns in 49 career games.
The Kansas City Chiefs took him in the third round (No. 76 overall) of the 2015 NFL draft. He spent three seasons in Kansas City, two with the Houston Texans, one with the Tennessee Titans and two in San Francisco.
In his 10-year career, Conley caught 226 passes for 2,998 yards and 15 touchdowns. He spent the last two seasons with the 49ers, recording nine receptions for 145 yards in 23 games.
According to his agent, Conley is returning to the University of Georgia to pursue a career in filmmaking.
