AC Milan have secured the services of Vanja Milinkovic-Savic as a precaution, with Mike Maignan seemingly close to Chelsea. However, as stated by Matteo Moretto, that doesn’t mean they will actually sign the Serbian.
Maignan is reportedly pushing for an exit after failing to reach an agreement on the contract renewal, feeling betrayed by the Milan management. As such, negotiations are underway and the coming days will be decisive for a potential deal.
According to Matteo Moretto, speaking on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, Milan have secured Vanja Milinkovic-Savic’s services as a precaution. They obviously know that the Maignan negotiations are at an advanced stage and as such, sporting director Igli Tare reached out to the goalkeeper’s agent.
The two have a great relationship, facilitating a potential deal, while there is also a €20m release clause in the goalkeeper’s Torino contract. This makes the 28-year-old the easiest solution for Milan if Maignan were to leave, but other goalkeepers are also being evaluated.
As Moretto explains, it will first be necessary to understand what will happen with Maignan, seeing as Milan requested a lot more than the €15m that has been put on the table. Then, we will also have to see if the Rossoneri could move for another replacement, rather than Milinkovic-Savic.
In other words, you could say that the goalkeeper’s move to San Siro is on standby for now, pending further developments. The big news, of course, is that no other clubs will be able to get to the Torino man for now.
