AC Milan seem to be looking to make a big striker move this summer, and a journalist has put forward Victor Osimhen’s name.
Milan have some doubts to resolve about the striker position, with Luka Jovic is on an expiring contract and Tammy Abraham’s loan having run out. Santiago Gimenez and Francesco Camarda are the options at present and the latter may depart on loan, to play more regularly.
Last night, Sky mentioned that Mateo Retegui of Atalanta and Dusan Vlahovic of Juventus are two forwards that the directors are looking into, even if they would be difficult coups to pull off due to the costs involved.
During the usual video update on his YouTube channel, the Corriere della Sera journalist Carlos Passerini mentioned Osimhen’s name among those of Vlahovic and Regeui. MilanNews relayed his comments.
“Temptation Osimhen, or suggestion? I prefer to use the formula temptation now, typical of the transfer market. But temptation Milan for Osimhen. What is true in this interest of Milan for Osimhen?
“I use the formula temptation Osimhen, not so much suggestion, because Milan are thinking about it. It is a name that is in the mind of the management of Milan. It is a name that is also in the mind of Max Allegri. So this is the starting point.
“He is a player that can please everyone, it is clear that you do not need to be a football genius to understand that Osimhen would be very useful to everyone. He scored 26 goals in 30 games with Galatasaray. Top scorer in the Turkish league.
“We know, however, that he is still owned by Napoli, who are asking for 75 million for abroad, while there is no real fixed sum, a clause, for Italy. It is clear, however, that Napoli, champion of Italy, is not willing to give up a player of that value to a direct competitor, such as Milan could be next year.
“However, Osimhen does not want to return to Naples […]. The summer is long and this is the typical deal that in my opinion could be the talk of the town for the whole season. It could even become a refrain.
“I ask you: would you sell Leao in exchange and with that money go for Osimhen? Is it a sensible exchange? They are two different roles, but Milan could use the goals of a striker like that. I personally would think about it.”
