Atletico Madrid have increased their offer to AC Milan for Theo Hernandez, but the two clubs have not reached an agreement and the deal is now at risk of collapsing. The Frenchman is still expected to leave San Siro during the summer transfer window, with his contract set to enter its final year at the start of the 2025/26 season. Milan face the prospect of losing him for free if they do not sanction a transfer in the current window, yet they have rejected Atletico’s improved bid.
The 26-year-old left-back had previously turned down a lucrative move to Al-Hilal, managed by Simone Inzaghi. The Saudi giants were ready to offer Milan around €30 million and hand Theo a contract worth €18 million per season. However, the player rejected the offer, making clear his desire to remain in European football.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Atletico Madrid recently raised their bid from €15 million to close to €20 million. Despite the increase, Milan deemed the offer insufficient. As things stand, Atletico could now pull out of the deal entirely.
Earlier this week, reports suggested that Atletico had already reached an informal agreement on personal terms with the French international. However, unless Milan lower their demands or the Spanish side increase their bid substantially, the transfer may not go through.
