La Liga has informed Espanyol of the payment of the release clause of Joan Garcia for 26.3415 million euros. This has been known with the opening of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

Joan Garcia is hours away from being announced as a new Barcelona player. La Liga has already informed Espanyol that the payment of his release clause, which finally amounts to 26.3415 million euros, has been made effective.

All this has been made public with the opening of the Shenzen Stock Exchange, where Rastar Group, the owner of Espanyol, is listed. Early on Monday morning, all shareholders were informed of the payment of the clause, according to ‘AS’.

“On the afternoon of June 14th, 2025, Espanyol received a notification from La Liga informing it that Garcia had paid a unilateral termination fine of €26.3415 million to La Liga. In accordance with La Liga regulations, upon approval, the player will be transferred to the new football club and will receive the unilateral release clause,” Rastar Group published in the statement to its shareholders.

Thus, Joan Garcia will cease to be an Espanyol player in the coming hours to become Barcelona’s new goalkeeper for this season and until June 2025.

All this, while the Catalan team tries to find a place for Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who is close to joining Galatasaray. Selling the German will not be an easy task for the ‘Cules’.
