With the sale of Tijjani Reijnders completed, Milan must once again rebuild their midfield department just like they were forced to after the exit of Sandro Tonali. One of the names that has been increasingly linked in recent days is Guerra, and things have accelerated.
According to Di Marzio, Milan have presented a formal offer for Valencia’s Javi Guerra. It is worth €16m as a fixed amount, and there are €4m in further bonuses.
Now they are waiting for the response of the Spanish club, who may ask for a little more. Last year, in fact, they had negotiated with Atletico Madrid over a fee worth around €25m.
Javi Guerra, as reported in recent days, has climbed the hierarchy and represents Milan’s top objective for the middle of the park, with Igli Tare and Massimiliano Allegri clearly convinced.
According to Luca Marchetti, who spoke live on Sky (via MilanNews) on Monday night, the 22-year-old remains the main target for Milan ‘s midfield. They also speak of a €20m bid and higher demands, but Milan ‘are confident of closing the deal by counting on the player’s will’ to join Milan.
MilanNews confirm the bid too, but there will not be an immediate ‘yes’ from Valencia. The two clubs will have to negotiate further, just as they did with the Yunus Musah operation two years ago, and the feeling is that a raise in offer will be needed.
In the season that has just ended, Guerra was one of the irreplaceable players of Valencia, who – despite a difficult start to the season – managed to achieve an almost comfortable survival. In 38 total games he collected three goals and as many assists.
He is currently playing with Spain U21 at the European Championship, where he will face Italy in the last match of the group stage, with top spot at stake. Milan will be watching closely
