Arsenal could be about to make a major step forward in their pursuit of Benjamin Sesko with RB Leipzig opening talks to sign a replacement for the Slovenian frontman.
The Gunners are in the market for a new centre-forward this summer, having failed to sign one in either of the last two transfer windows. Raheem Sterling was the only forward through the door, arriving on a season-long loan from Chelsea last summer.
Sesko was seen as the chosen one in the first of two summer transfer windows – due to the Club World Cup taking place in the United States of America – with reports of “concrete talks” between Arsenal and RB Leipzig for the 22-year-old.
However, things soon went quiet, with links to Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres resurfacing
Arsenal will have to spend big on either player, with rumours of around £92.5million being required to entice Leipzig to sell Sesko, while Sporting CP president Federico Varandas stated last week: “Viktor Gyokeres won’t leave here for €60million (£51.2million) plus €10million (£8.5million) in add-ons. He won’t, and the game the agent is playing will only make the situation worse. As of now, we haven’t had one offer for him.”
But Arsenal’s pursuit of Sesko has taken a major step forward today with news emerging that Leipzig have already lined up their replacement
According to transfer expert Sacha Tavolieri, Leipzig are already making plans for life without Sesko by lining up his replacement
Leipzig have opened talks with Goztepe striker Romulo over a move to the Bundesliga, with Tavolieri stating on X: “Management considers Goztepe striker as first target if Benjamin Sesko leaves the club. Talks are already under way with player side and the Brazilian striker’s already keen on the move!”
Leipzig would ideally like to get a new striker in before agreeing to Sesko’s sale, and it looks as if that is already on track.
