The Gunners are looking to strengthen up front this summer after a season where Kai Havertz was the main striker, playing out of his natural position for the majority of the year.
They have been very strongly linked to both Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres, with reports suggesting that Arsenal are most likely to sign Sesko at this stage, as he is their number one target. However, Gyokeres reportedly prefers a move to Arsenal over rivals Manchester United, and so they could also go after him
But, in somewhat of a surprising transfer update, Mikel Arteta has reportedly been offered the chance to sign a striker from Ukraine instead. According to a report by Just Arsenal, the Gunners have been ‘offered’ Dynamo Kyiv striker Vladyslav Vanat, who was a key player for his side last season.
The report says that the Gunners are amongst a group of several European clubs that are monitoring Vanat this summer, including clubs from England, Spain and Italy.
It is understood that the 23-year-old has a release clause of £17m in his contract at Kyiv, which is active until June 2027. So it is likely that the Ukrainian side are trying to cash in on him now, before his contract begins to run down.
The 23-year-old was superb for Kyiv last season, scoring 21 goals and providing nine assists in 45 appearances in all competitions. He has also emerged as a reliable option for the National Team, making 11 appearances so far.
He came through the academy at Dynamo Kyiv, and also played for every Ukraine youth team from ages U16s up to the first team.
In his career so far, Vanat has made 112 appearances for Kyiv after coming through the youth system, he has scored 48 goals and provided 22 assists; certainly a high-potential bargain option for Arteta up front.
