Yet another report has claimed that AC Milan have the opportunity to sign Federico Chiesa from Liverpool this summer.
It was a strange season for Chiesa, who won the Premier League title in his first campaign overseas with Liverpool, but did not play much under Arne Slot. This has led to suggestions that he could depart ahead of next season, in the pursuit of more opportunities.
He is among the various current and former Juventus players that have been touted to reunite with Massimiliano Allegri at Milan, along with the likes of Adrien Rabiot, Dusan Vlahovic and Andrea Cambiaso.
La Repubblica (via MilanPress) confirms that Chiesa’s adventure abroad could already be over after just one season. The former Fiorentina winger has not had an easy few months in England, playing only 14 games overall and scoring two goals for Liverpool.
For this reason, he has been offered to Milan and Napoli who are considering making a concrete move as both Allegri and Antonio Conte like him. To return to Italy, however, he will have to make a financial sacrifice.
The salary that Chiesa currently earns with the Reds – around €7.5m net per season per season until 2028 – will be difficult to match for both the Rossoneri and the Partenopei. Discussions could open to gauge the idea of a pay cut.
It is believed that Chiesa strongly harbours the desire of getting a starting spot back in the Italian national team under Gennaro Gattuso in view of the 2026 World Cup, so a move could be in his best interests from that aspect too.
