With a deal for Bryan Mbeumo drawing increasingly close, Manchester United’s attentions can begin turning elsewhere.

It has been a very long month of June, with Ineos spending much of it chasing a deal for Brentford’s number 19.

However, after weeks of negotiation, a second bid for Bryan Mbeumo has been submitted, and it is one Manchester United are confident will be successful as it crosses the £60m mark.

This would make Mbeumo the second major signing to happen this summer, following United’s acquisition of Matheus Cunha from Wolves for a similar fee.

The double move has added 35 Premier League goals from last season to the ranks, which should play a big part in solving the attacking problems at the club.

However, United had four key positions to strengthen, with the midfield being one of them. There have been numerous options linked for this position. But now United may have to act as AC Milan makes a move for one of the most exciting potential signings.

Midfield is a key area for United, as last season’s options weren’t good enough. United have been linked with Chris Rigg as a potential younger option for the role.

While Atalanta’s Ederson appears to be target number one for United in the position this summer, for a slightly bigger fee.

However, another target has been plying his trade in Belgium, with United keen suitors for Ardon Jashari, who won the player of the season award in the Belgian Pro League for 2024-25.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has reported on X that AC Milan have taken the first steps of any side to sign Swiss international Jashari this summer.

Milan have offered £21m plus an additional £4m to Club Brugge for Jashari’s signature this summer. However, it is added that the Belgian club wants more than this to sell their prized asset this summer, with numerous other clubs involved.

It sounds as though Brugge wants to start a bidding war, with English clubs also involved in the race for Jashari, among whom United should be considering an offer. However, as of now, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Milan are clearly leading the race.

This summer, a midfield signing for United relies on first selling Casemiro. So, amid rumours over the Brazilian being wanted in Saudi Arabia, lining up his replacement would be wise.

Jashari would be just that, with the potential to strengthen Amorim’s midfield with qualities that are currently lacking.

Amorim admitted he prefers a ball-playing defensive midfielder, and Jashari would be just that, bearing similarities to a Rodri or Tijjani Reijnders-esque midfielder, which explains why Milan wants him to replace the Dutchman.

Jashari is an excellent passer, with brilliant long passing, which would suit Amorim’s United, while he also excels in interceptions and recoveries. In summary, he is a midfielder who suits playing for a team who are more dominant, as opposed to one like United have been in recent years.

The Swiss star can dribble, pass, and also score goals. He could be revolutionary for Amorim’s midfield.
