Eddie Nketiah was sold by Arsenal to Crystal Palace.
The Englishman spent a decade as a Gunner after joining the club as a 14-year-old. He came through the ranks in the academy and was always brilliant at youth level.
However, Nketiah struggled to fulfil his potential in the senior side, and after receiving interest from several clubs, he chose to join Crystal Palace.
Now, there is a chance that the striker will be upset because of what Mikel Arteta has done at Arsenal.
The Crystal Palace star is one of the best players in the Premier League now, and he is of interest to several clubs in this window.
Arsenal Insider exclusively revealed on Thursday that Arsenal have enquired about signing Eze to bolster their attack in the coming weeks.
That is fantastic news for Arsenal fans, but Eddie Nketiah will not be too pleased.
That’s because Eze was crucial in convincing the striker to join Palace despite interest from clubs like Nottingham Forest last year.
It was revealed by the Mail at the time that the prospect of playing with his good pal Eze is what persuaded Nketiah to choose Crystal Palace when he left Arsenal.
Now, just a year later, if the versatile attacker leaves Nketiah and the Eagles to join Arsenal, the former Hale End star is likely to be very sad.
Eze is no stranger to Arsenal.
The Englishman was once a part of the Gunners’ youth setup, and his goal at the time was to come through the ranks and become a first-team star.
But, Arsenal released Eze when he was 13, and the attacker was heartbroken.
He told Rising Ballers: “Arsenal was probably the hardest (rejection). My dream was to play for them, so hearing them say no at 13 was tough.
“I remember training after I got released, and I couldn’t focus, I was just crying whilst training.”
Eze can finally live his dream if the Arsenal move goes through in the coming weeks.
