Ardon Jashari has ended up at the top of AC Milan’s wish list and according to a report, Igli Tare has tabled an improved offer for the 22-year-old.
As highlighted by Gazzetta dello Sport this morning (see photo below), Milan are in a hurry to get back to European football, following what was a very disappointing season. The goal is to win the Scudetto and in order to achieve it, a budget of €100m has been granted by the club ownership.
A significant improvement will be needed, but Napoli showed that it’s possible with their journey from 10th to first last season. Among the reinforcements on the cards, Milan have set their sights on Luka Modric, Granit Xhaka and Ashari for the midfield.
Improved offer tabled for Jashari
As a result of Milan expressing their interest in the player, Jashari has asked Club Brugge to help make it possible for him to join the Rossoneri. Igli Tare had already presented a first offer of €27m plus bonuses, but as that was rejected by the Belgian side, it was raised to €30m plus bonuses yesterday.
It remains to be seen if this will be enough to get the yes immediately, but the feeling is that the Belgian side eventually will buckle under the pressure. For now, they are asking for a fixed amount of €35m plus bonuses, so there is distance between the parties, but it can be sorted.
Max Allegri is hoping that he will have Jashari earlier than Stefano Pioli got Charles De Ketelaere (at the start of August). The fact that Jashari isn’t expected to be a goalscorer does help take some pressure off his shoulders, though, but time remains of the essence.
Talent and experience combined
At the age of 22, it’s clear that Jashari will benefit from having the likes of Modric and possibly even his compatriot Xhaka next to him. Milan consider him a talent that can develop further, hence why they are willing to authorise such a significant investment.
He doesn’t have the instinct for goals as Reijnders had last season, but he certainly benefits from more ‘competitive nastiness’, as the newspaper puts it. In short, he’s not afraid to get stuck in and Milan have missed a player like him in the midfield.
Speaking of Xhaka, he has also made it clear that he wants to join Milan this summer. He has already accepted the contract, but Bayer Leverkusen are asking for more than the €10m offered by the Rossoneri. He remains in the running, but Javi Guerra is an alternative (maybe for Jashari as well).
