Viktor Gyökeres has ended up on AC Milan’s wish list for the No.9 position, per various reports, but Fabrizio Romano has more or less shut down these rumours.
While several sources have linked Milan with Gyökeres in recent months, Gazzetta dello Sport has been leading the line with multiple reports just in the last few days. Just this morning, the pink newspaper reported that the striker is the ‘forbidden dream’ of the Rossoneri.
Arguably, with 54 goals scored this past season, the Swede would be a great signing for Milan and would truly reinforce the Scudetto target. However, many clubs are monitoring his situation and without the Champions League, can the Rossoneri really entice the player?
Speaking about the situation on his YouTube channel, the reputable journalist Fabrizio Romano made it clear that Gyökeres to Milan is a very distant reality. The striker is keen on leaving Sporting Lisbon, that much is true, but he has given full priority to Arsenal.
“Many questions about Gyökeres… We respect all colleagues and all information, but at this moment, what is known about Gyökeres is that the player is waiting for Arsenal. As long as there is a possibility of going to Arsenal, playing in the Champions League and working with Arteta, Gyökeres gives priority to Arsenal,” he stated.
In short, it’s an uphill battle for Milan and that’s why they also have other names on their wish list, such as Mateo Retegui and Dusan Vlahovic. The former has a high price tag and a reasonable salary, while the latter has a reasonable price tag but a high salary.
