Inter are ready to spend €30m in order to beat AC Milan to the signing of Parma defender Giovanni Leoni, a report claims.
Milan have been heavily linked with a move for Leoni in recent weeks, with the presumption being that the money to fund the deal would arrive from the sale of Malick Thiaw. However, the German is cold on the idea of joining Como it seems, and Inter have sensed an opportunity.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri are trying to rebuild their squad and in an ‘expensive’ way. Ange-Yoan Bonny will arrive from Parma, but Beppe Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio have not run out of ideas and are thinking about how to rejuvenate the defence too.
Parma’s Giovanni Leoni is the prized object of this market, but also the Nerazzurri’s main objective for an aging department. In theory, there is a nest egg of €30m already available, and he would reunite with Chivu who launched him at Parma.
Sales are expected too. Hakan Calhanoglu is a case that still needs to be resolved while for yaNN Bisseck, for example, inter would gladly discuss offers between €30-40m, while another €10m could come from the sale of Aleksandar Stankovic to Club Brugge.
The possibility of leaving Leoni on loan for a year at the Tardini is not excluded in the negotiations, indeed it is a hypothesis to follow.
