Joao Felix will not be joining AC Milan on a permanent basis following his loan spell with the Rossoneri, but the 25-year-old may be on his way to Roma.
The Portuguese international signed for AC Milan on a temporary deal in January after falling out of favor under Enzo Maresca at Chelsea and failing to make an impact since his permanent move from Atletico Madrid in August 2024.
During his time in Italy, the former Benfica star made 21 appearances and contributed to just three goals (2G + 1A), as Milan finished eighth in the Serie A.
His poor performances, alongside the appointment of Massimiliano Allegri, meant that Milan did not make an offer to sign Felix on a permanent basis.
Chelsea have also agreed a deal with Brighton to sign another Joao, as the Blues add Brazilian forward Joao Pedro to their roster and make Felix’s exit almost inevitable.
The Brazilian may join the Chelsea squad at the Club World Cup, as Enzo Maresca’s side are one of the favorites to win the competition on the best betting apps following Manchester City’s exit.
As for Felix, his recent years have been extremely underwhelming since he joined Atletico for over $140 million, failing to make an impact for Diego Simeone’s side with 34 goals in 131 appearances.
The Portuguese star signed for Barcelona on loan where he also struggled, contributing to 16 goals in 44 appearances and is now an outside member for his national side – not making a single appearance in Portugal’s Nations League triumph.
Despite his run of poor form across multiple different leagues, Joao Felix has still attracted interest from a variety of clubs around the globe this summer.
According to reports, teams in Saudi Arabia have enquired over a move for the 25-year-old, as Chelsea look to offload Felix on a permanent basis as opposed to a loan deal.
Al Hilal, Al Nassr and Al Ittihad are all in the market to add more star names to their roster, especially after Al Hilal’s monumental victory over Manchester City in the FCWC.
Another possibility is a move to Benfica, with the Portuguese side weighing up the idea of resigning the man that worked his way through the ranks in Lisbon.
Felix still has six-years remaining on his deal with Chelsea after signing a monstrous seven-year deal that have become notorious with the Premier League side.
This could put off potential suitors, however, if the Portuguese star wants to stay in Italy then Roma may be hand him a lifeline despite his contract issues.
Roma are monitoring various players in the Premier League, as Gian Piero Gasperini is reportedly keen on Dominic Calvert-Lewin after he announced his decision to leave Everton this summer.
The Giallorossi will be hoping to achieve Champions League qualification in 2026 after finishing fifth in the Serie A last season and may need a major overhaul to do so.
