While Bologna chose not to exercise their option to buy Tommaso Pobega, they remain keen on signing him permanently.
Pobega left Milan last summer on a season-long loan with an option to buy. The 25-year-old made 30 appearances this past season, including 20 minutes in the Coppa Italia final, and bagged seven goal contributions in the process.
Earlier in the week, Bologna confirmed that both he and Davide Calabria had left the club. As it stands, therefore, Pobega will return to base to be part of the preseason meet-up that will take place at Milanello under the orders of Massimiliano Allegri from Monday.
However, according to Tuttosport (via MilanPress) this morning, it’s not over yet. Bologna were not convinced to pay €12m to sign Pobega outright, but they are still looking for a midfielder and they are keen on bringing him back for the right price.
The aim for the Rossoblu is to get a discount on the amount agreed less than 12 months ago, investing a maximum of €8-9m for the Milan academy graduate. A contract until June 2029 is said to be ready for the player, in the event they can agree a deal with the Rossoneri.
