MN: Jashari ‘one step away’ from Milan…see more

AC Milan seem to be getting closer to signing Ardon Jashari, with the player now not set to report for Club Brugge’s preseason training.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) report this morning that while in Bruges, Jashari has moved closer to Milan. The player asked and obtained not to travel with the team to Scotland for the friendly against Rangers.

He remained alone in Belfius, the training centre Club Brugge have in Westkapelle, not too far from the city center. He will not even fly to London, where the team will stop next week for five days of training.

Thus, without moving from the city, Ardon has sensationally distanced himself from Belgium. And in reiterating his desire for the Rossoneri, he has moved even closer to Milan.

Even if in the last few hours the leaders of Milan and Club Brugge have had nothing to say to each other, the latest events have spoken for them.

In addition to Jashari, there are two other players from the Belgian group authorised not to participate in the trip: De Cuyper and Chemsdine Talbi, both heading for the Premier League, to Brighton and Sunderland respectively.

Three clues make one proof: in Belgium, the players who will not be part of Club Brugge next season have remained. Not only has he not moved from the city, Ardon has also remained firm in his position: he sees his future in Milan and San Siro is the only direction he intends to take.

Jashari has done his part, as if he already had the Rossoneri shirt on: he has communicated his will to his club and has stood firm, tough and determined as on the pitch.

Final offer

Apparently, the positions of Milan and Club Brugge have also remained firm. Milan believes it has recognised the player’s value with an overall offer, fixed part and bonuses, between €30-35m.

Jashari, the best player in the Belgian league in 2024-25, only played in the Champions League in the season just ended. The Jupiler Pro League is not considered an elite tournament, and before that Ardon had stood out at Luzern, in the Swiss league.

For this reason, Milan believes its offer is in line with Jashari’s talent and growth prospects, without having to raise the stakes again. Brugge were told clearly: it is the final offer, take it or leave it. The only attachment is the expiration date: Milan will not wait much longer.

Club Brugge have not yet officially moved from the request of €35m as a fixed base. To which bonuses must be added. Yet they took a step back by letting Ardon not participate in today’s friendly.

For this reason, the Belgian resistance, already tested by Milan in the De Ketelaere affair, now seems weakened. The conviction of letting Ardon go, accepting the Rossoneri call, is growing stronger.

The timing

The deal could be completed in the first few days of next week, with Jashari leaving Belgium for Italy. It could happen ahead of schedule. Brugge will give in even at the cost of losing confidence in their fans, who will see the team’s three best players leave in quick succession.

Milan, on the other hand, will not wait to sell one of their current midfielders as they initially thought they would do: in the meantime, they will be able to rush the English teams who are following Musah, but without the dynamics influencing the negotiations for Jashari, a deal that will proceed in parallel.

On the pitch, Max would thus have a completely renewed midfield already in the first week of training. At least in theory: Modric will arrive after a (shortened) vacation that will follow the commitments with Real at the Club World Cup.

In any case, Luka is not a player that the coach will have to work on, but a champion who will only be entrusted with the shirt. Unlike Ricci, a young regista to be shaped according to the needs of the coach, and Jashari himself, a central or mezzala depending on the new tactical needs.

Modric and Ardon could represent the great sage of the midfield and the new that advances: they will have the tasks that usually fall to the mezzali. In the centre, Ricci will direct, already at Milanello with Allegri.

The alternative options would remain three, one for each role: Loftus-Cheek central, Fofana and Bondo reserves. Jashari is in a hurry to resume training with the group, and Milan are already gathered at Milanello.
