Arsenal are poised to secure their third signing of the summer transfer window.
The Gunners have had a good start to the summer and have already confirmed two arrivals.
Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and midfielder Martin Zubimendi have joined from Chelsea and Real Sociedad respectively.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein has now revealed that the Gunners have ‘completed’ the signing of Christian Norgaard from Brentford.
The Gunners will pay a guaranteed £10 million with a further £2m in add-ons.
Norgaard has ‘undertaken a medical’ and his arrival is ‘expected’ to be announced by the end of the week.
The Denmark international has been a consistent performer for the Bees in the Premier League.
He joined the club in the Championship and has been their captain over the past few seasons.
The 31-year-old’s displays have gone under the radar, and we believe he would be a solid backup option behind Zubimendi in the number six role for the upcoming campaign.
Norgaard won an impressive 62 percent of his aerial duels in the Premier League last term. He made almost six recoveries per outing alongside two clearances and two tackles.
He is also a genuine set-piece threat with nine goal contributions in the league last season.
The Dane would provide much-needed depth in the holding midfield position. Zubimendi will obviously need some time to adapt, and Norgaard’s services could be utilised to see out results.
Norgaard will become Arsenal’s third acquisition of the summer. The Gunners are expected to make several more signings. Talks are advancing with Sporting CP for striker Viktor Gyokeres.
Arsenal are also determined to land Valencia centre-back Cristhian Mosquera.
The club likewise have a strong interest in Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze, Real Madrid winger Rodrygo and Chelsea’s Noni Madueke.
It promises to be an exciting busy end to the transfer window for the Gunners, but the huge investment could coincide with some exits. Leandro Trossard and Oleksandr Zinchenko look poised to depart.
