Christopher Nkunku’s future at Chelsea remains in doubt, with Bayern Munich and Inter showing interest in the French forward.
According to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Inter are considering a move for the Chelsea forward, who has struggled to find his feet with the London side since his arrival in 2023. Inter, under new coach Cristian Chivu, are planning to rebuild their attack after a disappointing end to last season and see the Frenchman as a reliable option.
However, it would not be easy for Inter to attract the 27-year-old to Serie A as Sport Bild reports Bayern Munich, having already held discussions with the player’s agent, are also in the race. Nkunku was strongly linked with Bayern in January, and the Bundesliga champions have reportedly reignited their interest following Jamal Musiala’s injury.THE BIGGER PICTURE
Chelsea signed Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig on a six-year contract in June 2023 for £53 million ($66 million). However, he made 27 Premier League appearances last season, with just nine starts, and managed only three goals. But Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has been using the forward more frequently in recent weeks, explaining that he “deserves” to get minutes. Nkunku has appeared in five of Chelsea’s six games at the Club World Cup, starting three of them. However, he is still expected to leave this summer.Apart from Bayern and Inter, Premier League club Manchester United have also reportedly made contact with the Frenchman. According to The Mirror, the Red Devils have been quoted £35 million ($48m) to sign him.
