Former Real Madrid winger, Gareth Bale has hailed former teammate Luka Modric, describing him as “fine wine”.

According to the former Welsh international, Modric just keeps getting better with age as he grows older.

Bale spoke as the 39-year-old Croatia midfielder left Real Madrid for AC Milan following the Los Blancos’ exit at the ongoing Club World Cup.

Modric is all set to join the Serie A giants after agreeing on a one-year deal with the Italian club.

The 2018 Ballon d’Or winner has left Xabi Alonso’s side and is expected to be unveiled as a new AC Milan player in the coming days.

Speaking about Modric, Bale said (via ESPN): “I think he could arguably still keep playing, but I think Real Madrid want to take the younger players and carry on.

“What an incredible footballer. I always call him a fine wine, just keeps getting better with age.”

Bale and Modric were teammates on two occasions – at Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur.
