Report: Al-Nassr interest in Pulisic ‘part of a broader context’

AC Milan have not yet received an offer from Al-Nassr for Christian Pulisic, but the rumours may accelerate renewal negotiations.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Al-Nassr are making an attempt to sign Pulisic. Cristiano Ronaldo’s side have not made any offers at the moment, and the American is considered a key element of the project. However, they have the money it takes to change anyone’s mind.

According to Calciomercato.com, the talk of Saudi interest in Pulisic is ‘part of a broader context’: that of his contract renewal. Pulisic’s current deal with Milan expires in 2027 (with an option for an extra year), with a net salary of €4m per season.

His current contractual situation is therefore a factor to take into account for the Rossoneri to plan their next moves. Last season, there was talk of a renewal offer from Milan that included a pay rise to €5m per year and the deadline being shifted to 2029.

The proposal remains on the table without any issues and with promises to speak again, but there has been talk of hesitancy from Pulisic, who wants guarantees. Now, Milan’s goal is to reach a solution during the next season, to avoid having him get 12 months from expiry.

The sporting director Igli Tare spoke about Pulisic in his first public appearances: “He will be a key player for next season. I will also have the opportunity to discuss the renewal with Giorgio at the appropriate time, but right now we are focused solely on the team.

“I think he was one of the most positive players last season and is one of the pillars of the coming season: he has a central role in this group.”

The Diavolo are therefore banking on Pulisic for the future as well, and the player is happy in Italy and at Milan. Nonetheless, the €67m transfer fee to Atalanta and the €20m per year for Mateo Retegui show that Saudi interest can flip all the cards on the table.
