Done Deal: Jorrel Hato bids farewell after confirmed Ajax player exit…see more

Ajax young gem Jorrel Hato reacted on social media after a confirmed exit from the club.

The 19-year-old is considered one of the most promising young defenders in Europe following his impressive rise through the Ajax ranks since making his debut at just 16.

His performances have caught the attention of several top clubs across the continent, with Football Insider reporting that Liverpool are among those interested in Hato, viewing him as a long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk.

Arsenal are also keeping tabs on Hato and have reportedly made enquiries about his situation in recent weeks. After missing out on Dean Huijsen, who opted to join Real Madrid, the Gunners are expected to prioritise a centre-back signing this summer.

Following Ajax’s announcement of a major departure, Hato was among the players to respond—fuelling speculation about what might come next for the highly-rated teenager.

Ajax have officially confirmed that Jordan Henderson has left the club after terminating his contract one year early.

The Dutch side announced the decision with the message: “Jordan Henderson is leaving Ajax. The club has cooperated with the player’s request to terminate the current employment contract. The Englishman’s contract with Ajax ran until June 30, 2026, but now ends immediately. Thanks for everything, captain.”

Hato was among players to react to the post as the youngster shared a like on the announcement.

The youngster has quickly risen through the ranks at Ajax and has worn the captain’s armband on occasion, but time will tell whether he becomes the club’s long-term captain.

Meanwhile, Henderson’s departure marks the end of a short-lived stint in Amsterdam following his move from Saudi club Al-Ettifaq midway through the 2023/24 season. The 35-year-old made 57 appearances for Ajax during his time with the Eredivisie side.

Henderson is now set to return to the Premier League, having agreed a two-year deal with Brentford following his Ajax exit [BBC Sport].

Sunderland had been strongly linked with a move for Henderson, raising hopes of a sensational return to the club where he began his career.

Football Insider revealed that the Sunderland explored a deal for Henderson back in the January window, but were ultimately unable to finalise a move.

Despite being linked again this summer, the Black Cats have now decided against pursuing the former England international, leaving Brentford to secure his signature as he prepares for a new chapter in West London.
