Theo Hernandez’s goodbye message to AC Milan has caused a bit of a stir, and the management have been left ‘upset’ by it.
This week, Theo’s Milan exit was confirmed, and after his stay at the club, a message was expected. Focusing on the nicities of his time with the Rossoneri was a given, however, there was always a risk of a bit more.
This season has been difficult, yes. So, with the club going down a different direction, and reports showing confusion about his situation, the aftermath was difficult to predict.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the management have been left upset by the use of the word ‘values’ in Theo’s departure statement.
“My decision to leave was not an easy one. I have always known where I wanted to be, and AC Milan has always been my priority. But, unfortunately, not everything depends on one person. The direction the club has taken and some recent decisions do not reflect the values or ambition that brought me here.”
This season, the defender has been engulfed by controversy, on and off the pitch. From the cooling incident to the contracts, there has been non stop drama with the Frenchman. In fact, the report goes back to the Scudetto season comparing it to now; a model professional to a social media player.
Of course, there were mistakes made last year by the club. Perhaps, this could be what was referred to, maybe just the way that negotiations went with the management.
The report ends simply, there is a way to say goodbye, and Theo failed to achieve it. It would have been better to leave quietly, though this was never going to happen and there is a bitter taste left.
