Rasmus Hojlund has ended up on AC Milan’s list of striker targets and Manchester United are open to loaning him, a report claims.
As Calciomercato.com recall, it was the summer of 2023 when United swooped in for Hojlund, offering Atalanta the monstrous sum of €74m plus €10m in bonuses for total of €84m for a player who, in one season in Serie A, had scored nine goals plus one in the Coppa Italia.
It seemed like the start of a great story for the Dane, but over the past two years, he hasn’t convinced enough. The arrivals of Cunha and Mbeumo will increase the competition in attack and push the Dane even further towards a move.
The Red Devils could also let him leave on loan with an obligation to buy conditional on reaching certain objectives. Serie A’s big clubs are queueing up: Inter first showed interest, now Milan and Juventus are battling.
United set Hojlund’s value at €45m, enough to avoid capital losses. The price remained the same, but the formula they are open to has changed in recent days. The Red Devils initially considered offers for a permanent purchase only, but – as Corriere dello Sport report – an initial loan is possible.
The Red Devils have now also opened the door to a loan with an obligation to buy tied to a possible Champions League qualification. Who knows, perhaps with the passage of time, they could also move to an option to buy.
Hojlund is thus an opportunity for Milan. The Rossoneri are keeping an eye on the Dusan Vlahovic situation at Juventus, but in recent days Igli Tare has made inquiries about the former Atalanta man.
