Sport news: Bennacer frustrating for Milan after 10m Al Ittihad offer… see more

Milan are running into real problems dealing with Ismael Bennacer, as Olympique Marseille withdraw their interest and he seems uninterested in Al Ittihad.

The midfielder spent last season on loan in Marseille and had been hoping to make the move a permanent one, but the Ligue 1 side tried to renegotiate the €12m option to buy.

These talks fell apart and now it is reported that Marseille have turned their focus elsewhere.

Bennacer has no place in the new Milan project under coach Max Allegri and has been left out of their pre-season tour squad.

According to Calciomercato.com, finding somewhere for the Algeria international to go is proving tricky, as the only real offer has come from Al Ittihad.

The problem with this is both that it is only worth €10m compared to the €15m asking price, but also that the player is not eager to make the move to the Saudi Pro League at this stage of his career.

The 27-year-old had won the Africa Cup of Nations with Algeria in 2019 and was a key part of Milan’s Scudetto triumph in 2022, but struggled since a serious knee injury in May 2023.
