Chelsea have been very active when it comes to signing some of the best rising talents from all around Europe and the world. They have recently agreed one such move as Jorrel Hato, the 19-year-old Ajax wonderkid, is set to join the Blues in €40 million-plus move and provide cover at both left-back and centre-back.
Now, we are hearing about interest in a midfielder, but there has not been much about it in the media. It looks like Chelsea were eyeing a move for Ardon Jashari of Club Brugge.
Having come through the youth ranks at Luzern, Jashari enjoyed a breakout campaign with Club Brugge. That was enough to catch the eye of Chelsea, who were believed to be ready to make an offer for the Swiss international. But the player has seemingly turned down that opportunity.
As reported by Sacha Tavolieri, Chelsea were planning an offer to Club Brugge, while Bayer Leverkusen wanted to make him a replacement for Granit Xhaka. But Jashari only wants a move to AC Milan.
It is believed that Club Brugge are looking for a transfer fee in the region of €40 million for Jashari. It remains to be seen if AC Milan make a bid of that magnitude. Last summer, he joined the Belgian club for around €6 million.
As for Chelsea, it is hard to imagine where someone like Jashari would have fit in. They already have a ton of options in the middle of the park.
That being said, Romeo Lavia is constantly injured and Moises Caicedo barely got any rest last season, even playing through knocks. So, it might not have been a bad idea to add another cover option there. Unfortunately, Jashari had other plans and we can only wish him well.
